Belief Systems – Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Belief Systems website, data, indices, analytics, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not access or use the Services.

1. Provider; Assignment

The Services are currently provided by James Stewart, an individual (“Belief Systems,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

You acknowledge and agree that Belief Systems may, at any time and without notice, assign or transfer these Terms and all associated rights and obligations to a newly formed entity or affiliated entity, including but not limited to a corporation, limited liability company, or other business organization. Such assignment shall not materially diminish your rights under these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding contracts to access or use the Services.

By using the Services, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are not prohibited from using the Services under applicable law; and
  • Your use of the Services will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.

3. Nature of the Services

Belief Systems provides informational data, analytics, indices, and research tools derived from publicly available sources related to real-world events.

The Services are:

  • View-only
  • Unauthenticated
  • For informational and research purposes only

The Services do not enable trading, wagering, execution, settlement, or participation in any prediction market, exchange, or financial product.

4. No Affiliation; Third-Party Data Sources

Belief Systems is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or partnered with any prediction market platform, including Polymarket.

The Services may incorporate, reference, or be derived from publicly available third-party data sources, which may change over time. Belief Systems makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or continued availability of any third-party data.

Belief Systems reserves the right to add, remove, or replace data sources at any time, without notice.

5. No Advice; No Reliance

THE SERVICES DO NOT PROVIDE INVESTMENT, FINANCIAL, LEGAL, TAX, OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL ADVICE.

Specifically:

  • Nothing on the Services constitutes investment advice, a recommendation, or an offer to buy or sell any security, derivative, contract, or financial instrument.
  • The Services do not account for your personal circumstances, objectives, or risk tolerance.
  • Belief Systems does not act as a fiduciary or advisor.

You agree that:

  • You use the Services entirely at your own risk;
  • You will not rely on the Services as the sole basis for any decision; and
  • Any decisions you make based on the Services are your sole responsibility.

6. No Gambling or Illegal Use

You agree not to use the Services:

  • For gambling, wagering, or facilitating bets;
  • In connection with any illegal activity;
  • In violation of any applicable law, regulation, or sanctions regime.

Belief Systems does not encourage or promote gambling and does not operate an exchange or wagering platform.

7. Methodology, Accuracy, and Changes

All indices, analytics, and values provided by the Services are:

  • Theoretical and non-executable
  • Subject to methodological assumptions
  • Based on data that may be incomplete, delayed, erroneous, or stale

Belief Systems reserves the right, at any time and without notice, to:

  • Modify index methodologies;
  • Recalculate or restate historical values;
  • Correct errors or omissions; or
  • Suspend or discontinue any index or dataset.

Historical values are not guarantees of future results.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, indices, methodologies, designs, text, graphics, and software comprising the Services are the exclusive property of Belief Systems or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit the Services;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract methodologies or data;
  • Use the Services to build competing products or datasets.

All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data;
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits, access controls, or security measures;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Services, servers, or networks;
  • Introduce malware or malicious code;
  • Use automated systems to overwhelm or degrade the Services;
  • Use the Services in a manner that imposes an unreasonable or disproportionate load.

Belief Systems may rate-limit, throttle, block, suspend, or terminate access at any time, with or without notice, for any actual or suspected violation.

10. Suspension and Termination

Belief Systems reserves the right to refuse service, restrict access, or terminate availability of the Services, in whole or in part, at its sole discretion and without liability, including to protect system integrity or prevent abuse.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.”

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BELIEF SYSTEMS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Belief Systems does not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

IN NO EVENT SHALL BELIEF SYSTEMS OR JAMES STEWART BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, DATA LOSS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Belief Systems and James Stewart from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising out of your use of the Services or violation of these Terms.

14. Arbitration; Class Action Waiver

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules.

You waive any right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding.

You may opt out of arbitration by providing written notice within 30 days of first accessing the Services.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

16. Miscellaneous

  • These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Belief Systems.
  • If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • Failure to enforce any right is not a waiver.
